Since graduation in 1985, I have attended college for dietetics and health and physical education, and I recently completed a Master's of Education Degree from Point Park University in Athletic Coaching. I am currently the boys cross country coach and head boys track and field coach at Punxsy and recently completed my 20th year of teaching in the district. I enjoy watching my boys play various sports and am trying to ward off the gradual aging process by staying in shape as best I can. One of my "minor hobbies" is pop culture from the 80's, anything related to movies, music, sports, etc. What this says about me I'm not sure, but I think most of us would agree it was a simpler time in our lives, and that's a nice feeling to revisit every now and then.
One of the ones I sometimes tell my physical education classes and the athletes on my teams was how we played dodgeball in Mr. Mcquown's classes. I may not be remembering the details exactly, but I swear we played a version in which you could try to drag someone from the other team across the line, thereby "forcing" them to become a member of your team. Someone (who shall remain nameless-it wasn't me!) tried to pull Mike Maciejewski across the line, and Mike basically flipped him over his shoulder onto the floor, thereby thwarting his attempt. I honestly don't think the kids believe me when I mention this story, as now dodgeball in any form is considered taboo because it uses "human targets", which is a discussion for another time.
